Go to school
Go To School, the debut album from duo Kritters, is about growing up and realizing that you have neither achieved the life nor inherited the world you were promised when you were young — and no, you don’t get a do-over. Songwriter and lead vocalist Kirini O.K. and producer Rob Steadman deliver tightly crafted, insistently rhythmic, genre-agnostic music that is mordantly funny, exuberantly angry, and unrestrained by the very loss, betrayal and disappointment it lays bare. Recorded during the spring 2020 lockdown in NYC and mixed later in the year in London, Go To School is an album of its moment and generation, unflinching in its scrutiny of all the ways that life schools us. It hurts to grow up, say Kritters. “Scream as you go, it makes it easier.”
